Hello Cor Kwant! I've just got unknown Ginkgo Biloba plant which doesn't have it's sort listed. It's said that it "For decoraton purposes only, not fit for consumption" but I still plan to make a tea of it.
You can check FAQ page for a recipe to dry them out: http://www.xs4all.nl/~kwanten/faq.htm

Also I'm looking forward to hear more about uses of leaves and would appreciate if someone could tell me if there some ginkgo varieties which are used only for decoration.

I have been using home baked gingko leaves for two years now for arthritis and fibromyalgia. I mix (1 tsp) of the dried leaves with a green tea every morning and have had amazing results. Much less pain and more agility. personal results only.
