Dutch Koorschool Cantarella conducted by Harrie Spronken won first prize honors at the European Youth Music Festival in Belgium in May 2010. "Gingo biloba" a poem by Goethe, is the inspiration for this song, written by composer and conductor Harrie Spronken.

Storm damage Ginkgo tree

Dear Friends,

We recently had a tornado pass through our town that snapped the leader trunk of my beautiful Gingko tree about 20 feet up. The rest of the tree is healthy and I'm wondering if the tree will survive without the leader. We can prune it up so it looks more even---but will it work? I know it will look rough for many years--but these trees are so hardy...what do you all think?
Thanks,

Hear a Ginkgo leaf falling

"I sat with my legs crossed, my eyes closed. I blocked out distractions, thoughts, and sensations. I concentrated on the sounds I heard......Twenty minutes later, I opened my eyes. I stretched my body, and I heard a voice in my mind: more practice, and bigger ears, I could get to hear a ginkgo leaf falling on the sidewalk of Mott street in NoLiTa."
