Ginkgo leaf in Art and Craft period US

What a super sight! I'm interested in learning why the ginkgo leaf was used
in art forms so extensively during the Arts and Crafts period in the US. I'm
researching this for our Historical Museum in Arlington Heights, IL. Aprons and
cards with beautiful stenciled leaves on them are sold in the Heritage Gallery
at the museum. Many thanks for any light you shed.

New York Mystery: Incredible Shrinking Trees

Four Ginkgo trees in Chelsea, New York City, were chopped down because they blocked ads. Less than a week after the billboard went up, the tops of all four trees were mysteriously lopped off. Although there is no dispute about what happened, exactly who was responsible remained a mystery.
Regardless of who did what, the city’s Parks and Recreation Department, said the he building’s condominium association on whose building the ads were plastered was ultimately responsible for what happened. The department issued a summons requiring building representatives to either present their case at a hearing or face a $4,000 fine — $1,000 for each tree.

Ginkgo plantation: help wanted

I am interested in the possibiltiy of growing ginkgo for medicinal purposes in South Devon , UK. I am considering a small plantation, possibly 20 - 30 acres.
This is the very first stage of my research, and any information people think may be relevant would be gratefully recieved. In particular I would like information on climate and growing conditions, working practices, possible markets for produce, potential yield and income. Many thanks.

Herb Day 2006

The U.S. Botanic Garden (USBG) will celebrate the first annual HerbDay this October — and all are invited! HerbDay is a new national event that is a series of public educational activities celebrating the importance of herbs and herbalism that will occur during the week of October 8 and culminate in a national celebration on October 14. Activities will occur at botanical gardens, parks, and retail establishments throughout North America. HerbDay activities at each hosting venue may range from lectures and workshops by herbalists; herb walks; cooking demonstrations featuring herbs and spices; seasonal herbal handcrafts; herbal beauty product demonstrations; demonstrations by herb company representatives; and children's activities with herbal themes.

600-years-old Ginkgo in South Korea

This Ginkgo is located in Nongso-2ri Okseong-myeon Gumi and is 15m in circumference and 50m tall. Seven adults holding hands can barely reach their outstretched arms around this tree. It was designated as a natural monument on May 28, 1970. The villagers regard it as a holy tree. This tree was planted by Mr. Eom about 600 years ago.
