Crested Gecko and Ginkgo

Wikipedia: "The Crested Gecko, New Caledonian Crested Gecko, Guichenot's Giant Gecko or Eyelash Gecko, Rhacodactylus ciliatus, is a species of gecko native to southern New Caledonia. This species was thought extinct until it was rediscovered in 1994. Along with several other Rhacodactylus species, it is being considered for protected status by the Convention on the International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna. It is popular in the pet trade."

Demonstration: Ginkgo leaves fire ratardant

The leaves of the Ginkgo are known to be fire retardant. In an episode of “Sekai Ichi Uketai Jugyou”, a Japanese variety show, they show how Ginkgo leaves exposed to fire are far less flammable than leaves of other trees.

Midōsuji Boulevard, Osaka, and Ginkgo trees

900 Ginkgo trees of 1937 as seen from a helicopter. They line Midōsuji Boulevard (4.5 km), the primary main street in central Osaka, Japan. It runs north-south and is an important shopping street.

Chinese president Hu Jintao plants Ginkgo

December 28, 2012, Taizhou (Jiangsu province): Hu Jintao, president of the People's Republic of China, plants a Ginkgo tree on the campus of  Taizhou High School. He is an alumnus of this school and Taizhou is the city where he was born and raised. 
The Ginkgo is the national tree of China.
